Two young adversaries are dueling to outperform the other in a spectacle called Le Cirque des Rêves. Readers are swept into a fantasy world filled with magical enchantments, but danger lurks where love is found.

Celia and Marco have been training since childhood for the moment to battle each other in a world of magic. Suspense is built as you learn the back story of each character and what they are capable of performing.

“Secrets have power. And that power diminishes when they are shared, so they are best kept and kept well."

Although the page count is similar to other books selected for our Book Club, this one took a while to get through. The fantasy element may have something to do with extending the read time. Often I found I had to go back and re-read sections to truly understand what was happening. The descriptions are phenomenal in this book. So much so, our club decided to do a "paint the night" activity during our book club meeting. The imagery the author creates is truly breathtaking. Each scene from a room within the circus tents gave way to a world of its own.

Happy Reading,
